Forward Deployed Engineer Interview Experience
Interview process
The interview process spanned four rounds: an initial screening covering analytical puzzles, past project deep-dives, and situational consulting scenarios; a take-home assignment requiring an end-to-end Factory Copilot integrating computer vision for part defect inspection with a RAG pipeline over internal SOPs; a technical defense round reviewing the assignment's architecture, design trade-offs, and horizontal scaling strategies; and a final hiring manager round focused on behavioral fit and employment history, where I was ultimately rejected over behavioral questions and the handling of career gaps.

Interview tips
Put genuine effort into the take-home; they value real, working implementation over credentials. Be ready to defend your architectural trade-offs, scaling limits, and edge cases in the technical review. Also, prepare thoroughly for behavioral and resume timeline questions in the final round.
Company culture
Highly execution-focused team that cares deeply about practical problem-solving rather than academic trivia. The interviewers were technically sharp, engaged in realistic engineering discussions, and offered strong visibility into the day-to-day realities of an FDE role.
