Welcome to our BizOps Course!
BizOps interviews test how clearly you reason through ambiguous business problems, how well you work with data, and how effectively you communicate decisions to senior stakeholders. Whatever the title, Strategy and Ops, Business Operations, Chief of Staff, or something else, the core skillset is the same: take a messy problem, scope it down, work the data, and tell leadership what to do about it.
This course is designed to help you build the core skills BizOps interviews have always rewarded: data fluency, structured problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and project execution. It also prepares you for the sharper, more practical bar coming up in recent loops, where rehearsed frameworks land flat and the so what for the business is what gets you hired.
You might be a fresh graduate or a consultant looking for a change. You may already work in BizOps under a different title like Program Manager. Or you may be a research scientist, founder, or ex-Chief of Staff. If you're interested in solving complex, high-impact problems, BizOps is a great fit.
We designed this course with strategy and BizOps hiring managers from leading technology companies and top startups. After coaching hundreds of candidates, we're confident that nothing replaces deliberate practice. That's why the Aced membership includes:

Goals of this course
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Understand what's evaluated in a typical BizOps interview loop.
- Answer interview questions about data, metrics, strategy, team dynamics, and project management with confidence.
- Communicate the business takeaway clearly to senior leaders, not just the analytical work.
- Build a strong story bank from your past experiences for behavioral interviews.
Recent hiring trends
Reports from BizOps and adjacent strategy candidates interviewing at companies including Uber, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and others point to a few clear shifts in what interviewers care about:
- Cases are getting more practical and less academic. Interviewers want to see you work through the actual problems the team deals with, not recite a generic framework. Strong candidates lead with the business takeaway and keep the heavy technical work in the background unless asked.
- Communicating the so what to senior leadership is a separate signal. Final rounds increasingly include a leadership panel or full case presentation where the bar is whether you can explain implications and tradeoffs to executives, not just analyze the numbers.
- Hands-on data work is showing up earlier in the loop. Take-homes and live cases are testing real Excel, SQL, and dashboard skills, often using the company's own marketplace, operator, or product data. Surface-level metric talk is no longer enough.
These shifts do not replace the fundamentals of BizOps interviewing. They make the fundamentals more important. Sharper data work is what lets you defend a recommendation under pressure. Stronger strategic decision-making is what lets you scope an ambiguous problem into something solvable. Cleaner stakeholder communication is what lets you land the so what with senior leaders.
This course will help you build that foundation while also giving you context for the more practical, leadership-facing expectations showing up in modern BizOps interviews.
How to use this course
BizOps interviews generally assess four core competencies:
- Data skills. BizOps is often called in to solve complex problems without clear answers. A lot of data analysis happens before recommendations are made, often involving database manipulation, cleaning, and shaping. You'll need to pull data together, draw insights, test hypotheses, and defend them when interviewers push back.
- Problem-solving and strategic decision-making. From all the possible decisions a company might make, which are the best options and why, and how do you get there? BizOps takes ambiguous problems, scopes them down into solvable chunks, and turns them into actionable projects. Top-shelf problem-solving, communication, and strategic decision-making are required at every step.
- Stakeholder management. BizOps partners with many different functions. Communicating up to leadership and across to team members and cross-functional partners is core to the role, and it shows up directly in interviews where you're expected to land the takeaway, not just the analysis.
- Project management. BizOps often works on early or bleeding-edge initiatives and runs its own projects. Project management skills vary in weight by role, but every BizOps candidate should be able to show how they set a project up for success and how they handle issues as they come up.
We've organized the course into these same categories to make preparation straightforward.
We recommend starting with a few questions from each section to gauge your strengths and gaps, then working through the sections most relevant to your target role.
If you're already in strategy or BizOps, feel free to skip this intro module and jump straight into the data skills module.
When practicing, resist the urge to skip straight to the answer. This course is designed for you to actually attempt your response, record yourself if it helps, and then compare against our solution to identify where your structure and reasoning can improve. There is rarely a single correct answer in BizOps interviewing. What matters is whether you can work the problem, defend your reasoning, and communicate clearly to the room you're in.
If you have questions as you work through the course, join the Aced Discord community and participate actively. Once you've completed the lessons, keep practicing in our interview question database. We select the top answers for detailed feedback and analysis.
