"The whole thing took about four weeks and went recruiter screen, live technical screen, three one-hour virtual onsite rounds, then a one-hour hiring-manager round. It started as a pretty contained coding process, but each step got less defined and more about whether I could take an ambiguous customer problem, understand an unfamiliar system, and own the real-world consequences of a technical decision. The main curveball was that behavioral evaluation was embedded inside the technical rounds the entire time. I could not just get the code right and move on because they kept asking why I chose that approach, what outcome it enabled, and how I would explain it simply. The re-engineering round was the one that stuck with me most because finding the duplicate-alert bug was only half of it, and then I had to talk through blast radius, cleanup, and customer impact."
