Agent Strategist Interview Experience
The agent design round was a live whiteboard: a new customer wants a cancellation agent, so map out the user journey and every system it needs to plug into.
Interview process
I went through a recruiter screen, then a virtual values and behavioral interview with another Agent Strategist, then an onsite that included a take-home presentation and a live agent design round with a PM. They told me there is still one more hiring manager round after this, so I'm still in process. Most of it was pretty in line with what they had already described and with what is out there online. The one place that felt sharper than I expected was the case and presentation portion. That was the part where they pushed hardest, and some of the questions felt like they depended on knowing how the company itself would normally operate.

Overview
I started with a pretty standard recruiter screen where they walked me through the role and the process.
Phone interview
Overview
Then I had a virtual values and behavioral interview with another Agent Strategist. It sounded like a fit check more than a gotcha round.

Take-home project
1 questionOverview
For the onsite, I had to do take-home homework and present it back. This was the part where they pressed harder than I expected, and it felt more like defending my thinking live than just walking through a polished deck.

Walk us through your presentation.
What would you do if the person requested that all three lines of effort are done on a more aggressive timeline with more aggressive metrics?
How did you come up with the criteria you used to evaluate against?
How did you include risks in the framework?
Who do you think would be in the room for this presentation?
I laid the deck out in a pretty traditional consulting way, like here is the answer and then I would get into the specifics, but they kind of prodded on the specifics upfront. They pushed on how I picked my evaluation criteria, how risks were built into the framework, who I thought the audience would be, and what I'd do if they wanted all three workstreams on a more aggressive timeline with harder metrics. I had a pretty robust appendix, so I redirected there a few times. The framework answer is where I rambled and could have been more concise.
Technical interview

I also did a live agent design round with a PM onsite. It was a whiteboarding exercise, and they let you use either the room whiteboards or whiteboarding software.

You have a new customer onboarding at the company. They want to build a cancellation agent. Walk through defining the user journey and the systems and integrations that would be required.
Interview tips
I'd prep this less like a classic consulting presentation where you lead with the answer and then unpack it. They wanted to get into the framework right away, so I'd be ready from minute one to explain how I chose the evaluation criteria, how I was thinking about risk, and who the audience in the room was supposed to be. I'd also recommend a thorough appendix because that helped me recover when they started drilling into specifics.
Company culture
It felt like a company growing really fast, to the point where the culture is probably still being formed while they hire. The people I met seemed ambitious and pretty high-achieving, but the common thread was being down to work hard to make things happen. Speed is definitely part of what they value.

“The process was great, and everyone was really helpful. It was definitely very rigorous, but you could tell that the whole team was very smart and switched on. ”

“At staff level, they cared less about the code and more about how I’d split the work into phases and show progress at each one.”
