Product Management Interview Prep2026 Edition

This product manager interview prep course is for anyone who wants to practice interviewing for a product management role.

This includes junior product managers applying for their first associate product manager job to experienced PMs looking to join a larger team or project.

It was built in collaboration with senior+ product managers at Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, YouTube, PayPal, Shopify, LinkedIn, and other top startups.

These are the most frequently asked product manager interview questions:

• What's your favorite product and why?
• How would you improve this product?
• What goals would you set for this product?
• Design a product for this user persona.
• Should our company enter a new market?
• How would you increase the number of users of this product?
• What metrics do you use to determine a product's success?
• Tell me about a time you handled a difficult stakeholder.
• Tell me about a time you disagreed with someone on your team.
• Tell me about a project you worked on with a tight deadline.

It takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks to effectively prepare for PM interviews. Interviewing is a separate skill from doing the job well.

We estimate 5-10 hours of work per week during this prep period. Don't underestimate how long it will take to prepare.

Here's an example step-by-step approach for your product management interview prep:

• Week 1-2: Take Exponent's PM interview course to learn frameworks and concepts
• Week 3-4: Focus on practicing one question type at a time (product sense, analytical, execution, or behavioral)
• Week 5-6: Practice answering real interview questions independently or with AI. Record yourself answering to catch weak spots
• Week 7-8: Start doing mock interviews with peers (aim for at least 10 practice sessions with 5 different people)
• Week 9-10: Work with a coach to polish your answers once you're comfortable with the format of PM interviews

Key tips:

• Quality over quantity for mock interviews. Find good practice partners and stick with them
• Don't try to perfect every answer. There are diminishing returns after 10 weeks
• You're ready when feedback gets nitpicky and you start feeling bored with prep
