# Workday Product Manager (PM) Interview Guide

We provide this Aced (formerly Exponent) expert guide for candidates preparing for Workday product management interviews. It was updated a month before the supplied observation time by Workday candidates. Workday is a B2B technology company whose products help other companies improve performance and workflows. The guide notes that Workday's PM process is growing and not standardized, so interview topics generally reflect the product area and role.

## Interview Process

Workday PM interviews generally have two stages: a phone screen and an on-site interview.

### Phone Screen

After a resume-based fit assessment, a Workday recruiter—or sometimes the hiring manager—may schedule an initial **30- to 45-minute** phone conversation. The recruiter seeks to understand why you are interested in Workday and the specific PM role you applied for.

Use the conversation to show enthusiasm for the role and prepare to discuss cultural fit. We recommend reviewing Workday's [core values](https://www.workday.com/en-us/company/about-workday/core-values.html). Candidates usually hear back **within one to two weeks** after the phone screen.

### On-Site

The on-site typically includes **four to seven employees**, including product managers, engineers, and business staff. Each interview lasts **45 minutes**; senior roles may involve more interviewers.

Topics can include:

- Behavioral questions
- Product-sense questions
- Technical and data understanding
- Collaboration with engineering

Candidates typically hear back **within one to two weeks** after the on-site. Reference checks and other standard paperwork begin at this stage. If the original role is not the right fit, Workday may offer an additional conversation with a hiring manager about another role.

Interview formats vary and generally map to the product area. For example, a user-facing role may include more product-design questions than analytical questions.

## Sample Interview Questions

Workday PM interviews are not standardized. The guide identifies two main preparation areas: **general product questions** and **behavioral questions**. The detailed sample-question content is member-only.
