# Adobe Data Scientist Interview Guide

Our expert guide helps candidates prepare for Adobe Data Scientist interviews. It was updated a month ago by Adobe candidates and was written by Kevin Landucci, Subject Matter Expert, Interviewing, with help from data science interviewers at Adobe.

## The gist

Adobe provides widely respected, industry-leading products and is described in this guide as having a markedly chill company culture. The guide’s rule of thumb is that candidates should be better than the average data scientist currently at Adobe. It contrasts this with Amazon’s stated hiring rule of seeking candidates in the top 10–15% of current employees.

Adobe is described as taking an almost academic approach to interviewing. Interviewers test theoretical knowledge throughout the process and may follow a candidate’s answers with improvised questions to “peel the onion.” For example, discussing a past project may lead to follow-up questions about the theory behind a technology or term mentioned in that project.

Adobe’s final round assesses four factors:

- Technical ability
- Analytical ability
- Communication
- Teamwork

A key final-round test is presenting a take-home project to a panel of technical and non-technical interviewers.

### Average total compensation by Adobe data science level

| Level | Average total compensation |
|---|---:|
| L2 | $181k |
| L3 | $229k |
| L4 (senior) | $247k |
| L5 | $426k |

## Before you apply

Adobe’s process is fairly similar across most teams, although it varies by team. Most candidates go through four stages:

1. **Recruiter screen:** Ensures you are a fit at a surface level.
2. **Hiring manager screen:** Gauges your technical and soft skills.
3. **Technical screen:** Measures table-stakes coding and analysis skills.
4. **Final round:** Includes five rounds, including presentation of your take-home project to a panel.
